Mercedes-Benz 9G-Tronic Mechatronic replacement

12-month warranty2–5 day turnaroundTracked return deliveryData transfer included

A brand-new Mercedes-Benz 9G-Tronic Mechatronic. All replacement units are supplied on an exchange basis: every unit is tested before dispatch and the price includes data transfer, so your original must be sent in for us to copy its coding and adaptation data onto the new unit, and it stays with us as the exchange. Replacement units carry a 12-month warranty and normally leave us within 2–5 working days.
Prefer it fitted? Choose Replacement & Fitting and call 01884 798090 to book a slot at our workshop in Uffculme, Devon — we fit the replacement, carry out the data transfer and road-test the car, usually the same day.

Mechatronic units need basic settings and clutch adaptation with a diagnostic tool once refitted. Any competent transmission specialist can do it; we tell you exactly what is needed with the unit.

Not sure the mechatronic is the cause? The symptoms and the fault codes we see on this unit are listed under Common Faults. If your codes differ, send them over before ordering — if the unit turns out not to be faulty you only pay the test fee and return postage.

Which vehicles does this mechatronic fit?

This unit is used across Mercedes. Check your exact model and year under Matching Vehicles, or compare the number printed on your own unit with the part numbers listed on this page. The same hardware often appears under several part numbers — call 01884 798090 if yours is not shown.

Prefer not to remove the unit yourself?

Choose Replacement & Fitting and call 01884 798090 to book a slot at our workshop in Uffculme, Devon. We fit the replacement unit, carry out the data transfer and road-test the car before you drive away, usually the same day; your original stays with us as the exchange.

Frequently asked questions

Do I still have to send my old unit in?

Yes. All replacement units are supplied on an exchange basis and have to be matched to your car: your original is needed for the data transfer — we copy its coding and adaptation data onto the new unit before it ships — and it stays with us as the exchange.

How long will I be without the unit?

Replacement units normally leave us within 2–5 working days of receiving your original. Should it take longer, we will contact you with an update. It comes to you on a tracked service. Ask about on-site fitting if you need the car back the same day.

My part number isn’t in the list — can you still help?

Usually yes. The same hardware appears under many part numbers. Send us a photo of the label or call 01884 798090 and we’ll confirm before you send anything.

What warranty do I get?

Replacement units carry a 12-month warranty. See Returns & Warranty for the full terms.

Does it need setting up after fitting?

Yes — basic settings and clutch adaptation have to be carried out with a diagnostic tool once the unit is back in the car. Fresh transmission fluid and a filter are strongly recommended at the same time.

Common Faults

What are the symptoms of a failing Mercedes-Benz 9G-Tronic Mechatronic mechatronic?

  • Jerking or slipping under load
  • Clutch adaptation failing after a service
  • Refusing to select a gear once the gearbox is hot
  • Pressure or solenoid fault codes stored in the transmission module
  • Gearbox dropping into limp mode
  • The selector position automatically shifts from D to N.
  • There is a failure to select D.

Different symptoms or fault codes – or no codes at all? Call 01884 798090 or use our contact form. We’ll help assess the issue before you send your unit.
