Mercedes-Benz 9G-Tronic Mechatronic Replacement Unit
Common Faults:
- 17090, P0706 – Transmission Range Sensor (F125)
- 17101, P0717 – Transmission Input Speed Sensor (G182): No Signal
- 17105, P0721 – Transmission Output Speed Sensor (G195): Implausible Signal
- 17106, P0722 – Transmission Output Speed Sensor G195 no signal
- 17137, P0753 – Shift Solenoid 1 (N88): Circuit Failure
- 18201, P1793 – Transmission Output Speed Sensor 2 (G196)
- 18226, P1818 – Pressure Control Valve 2 N216
The fault typically occurs after the gearbox has significantly heated up. For instance, when the car comes to a complete stop, such as when approaching a crossroad, the gearbox automatically shifts from "D" (Drive) to "N" (Neutral).
Upon the first use of the selector, the "D" position does not engage. It only succeeds after several attempts with the selector to engage "D". However, it does not shift to D1 but to D3 instead, indicating that the car is currently in 3rd gear.
Occasionally, there are also issues with engaging the reverse gear.
- The selector position automatically shifts from D to N.
- There is a failure to select D.
